Hey... the web is abuzz with the Santa Barbara fire incidence! Right before the the 4th of July, when things are getting ready to dazzle up America's sky with galore of vibrant red, white and blue fire flashes, a wild fire storm in the Los Padres National Forest broke out. This wild Santa Barbara fire compelled the authorities to evacuate denizens living in the Canyon region, north of Goleta in the Santa Barbara County.

Kathy Good, the U.S. Forest Service spokesperson, said that the fire spread out wildly and burnt off around 50 acres of heavy brush in the Santa Ynez Mountains foothills. Wondering why this news is coming up here in this 4th of July ecard blog? Well, I request you friends to play safe with fireworks. It just take seconds to turn life to nothingness! I just want to let you know that I don't love to hear the shrilling sirens of the ambulances overpowering the Independence fun. Unfortunate this happens each year!

A report laid down by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that almost two-thirds of all fireworks accidents happenr in the days surrounding July 4th. Almost over 9,600 people had to rush to emergency rooms for fireworks-burn in the year 2004; sad news is that almost half of them were children under 15.

West Lawn is the right spot to find how America adorns herself with the multi-colored bursts.

New York City promises what we call 'Macy's firework display' on 4th of July each year. This has always been the biggest firework display in the United States, with over 120,000 bursts, soaring as high as about 1,000 feet right over the East River. You need to view the show to appreciate the real glory of the glaring flashes shadowing on the river breast!

New Orleans promises a rocking 4th of July celebration with awesome fireworks show galore over the Mississippi River, artistically choreographed to patriotic music which starts from 9:00 p.m.

If you are planning to flag on a trip to San Diego, just don't afford to miss the firework display over north San Diego Bay include Shelter Island and Harbor Island. The show starts at around 9 p.m. SeaWorld and LEGOLAND also put on their own displays, which gives the San Diego firework display entirely a distinctive dimension!

Freedom of religion! Just when the nation is getting ready to be buzzed with the Fourth of July fun, the web has been found abuzz with freedom of religion and 1st amendment. In our country, freedom of religion is a guaranteed constitutional right defined in the religion clauses of the 1st amendment. Freedom of religion -- as in the 1st amendment is closely related to separation of church and state, an idea written of by Thomas Jefferson.

Yummy to eat and very easy to bake recipes are always delightful. Here are some lip-smacking Fourth of July special pies, which are sure to make you drool. You can treat all your friends over this yummy pie this July!!

Serves 10

Active: 20 min
Total: 1 hr 20 min
Planning Tip: The cookies can be baked up to 2 weeks ahead and frozen airtight with wax paper between layers. Proceed with Step 6 up to 1 day ahead. Store tightly covered in a single layer (frosting stays soft) at cool room temperature or refrigerate.

INGREDIENTS:
1 box (15 oz) refrigerated ready-to-use pie crusts
3 cans (21 oz each) cherry pie filling
1 can (21 oz) blueberry pie filling
1 large egg, slightly beaten in a cup
3 Tbsp sanding or coarse (crystal) sugar
You also need: 1½- to 2-in. star-shaped cookie cutter

PREPARATION:
1. On lightly floured surface with lightly floured rolling pin, roll 1 pastry round into a 12-in. circle. Fit into a 9-in. pie plate, letting edges overhang. Drain 1 can cherry pie filling, combine in a bowl with remaining 2 cans cherry pie filling.

2. Bend a clean 6-in. square of cardboard in middle forming a wedge. Place in upper left corner of pie (like hands of a clock pointing to 9 and 12). Fill with blueberry pie filling. Spoon cherry pie filling into rest of pie. Lift out cardboard.

3. Roll other pastry round into a 10-in. circle. With a pastry wheel or sharp knife, cut round in five ½-in.- wide strips. With cookie cutter, cut 5 or 6 stars from rest of pastry. Brush strips and stars with beaten egg; sprinkle with sanding sugar.

4. Heat oven to 425°F. Starting in middle of pie, carefully place 3 long strips, evenly spaced, across filling toward bottom edge. Cut remaining 2 strips into 4-in.-long pieces. Lay over cherry filling on upper right corner. Press ends of strips into edge of crust. Roll overhang of bottom crust up over ends of strips to form an even rim. Flute or crimp rim. Brush rim with beaten egg; sprinkle with sugar. Place stars on upper left corner of pie.

5. Bake 30 minutes. Reduce heat to 350°F; bake 25 to 30 minutes longer until pastry is golden brown and filling bubbles. Place on wire rack and cool completely.

How about some yummy desserts to celebrate the spirit of patriotism on the Fourth of July!! The cupcakes and cookies being my all time favorites, I would like to share the recipes for some of them. I am sure it would be a big hit amongst your friends and family.

Patriotic Cupcakes

Makes 12
Active: 25 min
Bake: About 25 min
Decorate: Depends on skill
Planning Tip: May be made up to 1 day ahead. Store airtight in a cool place or refrigerate.

INGREDIENTS:

CUPCAKES
1 stick (½ cup) butter
or margarine (not spread), softened
¾ cup sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
2 large eggs
½ cup 1% lowfat milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1⁄3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tub (12 oz) whipped vanilla frosting
Red, white and blue coarse (crystal) sugar
Red and blue gel or paste food colors
You also need: 2 disposable plastic decorating bags, each fitted with a #16 star piping tip

PREPARATION:

1. Heat oven to 350°F. Line 12 regular size (21/2-in.-diam) muffin cups with paper liners.
2. Beat butter, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl with mixer on high speed 1 minute or until well blended. Add eggs; beat 2 minutes or until fluffy. Reduce speed to low; beat in milk and vanilla (batter may look curdled). Beat in flour just until blended. Spoon into lined cups.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until a wooden pick inserted in center of cupcakes comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 5 minutes before removing from pan to rack to cool completely.
4. To decorate: Spread 1 cup frosting on cupcakes. Place each color sugar on a separate small plate. Lightly press edge of cupcakes in sugar to coat. Divide remaining frosting between 2 small bowls or cups. Color frosting in 1 bowl red, the other blue. Spoon each into a decorating bag. Pipe frostings on cupcakes as shown (see large photo, page 120) or decorate as desired.
